This song is by a group called The Fleetwoods, and was really popular at the end of 1959. I don't know how the charting system works for popular music, but I guess this was #1 for a while.
And now they're just another group in the annals of pop history.
- "Mr. Blue" by The Fleetwoods (1959)
I danced to it many, many times in high school. A hauntingly sad tune about unrequited love, something alien to me then. Of course I thought I did with short lived romances. It felt somehow grownup to know "tragedy." Youth....as we knew it. Nice to hear Mr. Blue again.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about "tragedy" that makes every young person feel a hundred times more mature and worldly, though it's hardly ever what we think it is. I'm glad this allowed you to re-experience some youthful memories!
